THE DANGERS AROUND US
The Problem of Forever Chemicals
WHAT ARE THEY?
"Forever Chemicals," also known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are everywhere, and currently, no solution eliminates them.
There are hazardous “forever chemicals” in the water that can’t be addressed with the current filtration and waste removal processes. Whether a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), landfill that has leachate, or a dairy farm processing your milk water, all the liquids that come out of any food waste, landfill processing, or wastewater need to be dewatered, dried and eliminated.
WHAT CONTAINS THEM?
Many of our every day products are still made with forever chemicals.
Water-Resistant Clothing
Fast Food Containers/Wrappers
Popcorn Bags & Pizza Boxes
Nonstick Cookware
Cosmetics and Eye Makeup
Stain-Resistant Coatings for Furniture
Cleaning Products
Shampoo and Creams
Dental Floss
Paints and Sealants
Firefighting Foam
Laundry Detergent
WHERE ARE THEY?
"Forever Chemicals" last forever and are found everywhere.
Since the 1940s, PFAS have been manufactured and used in a variety of industries around the globe. These chemicals lead to adverse human health effects.
GET THE FACTS
Recent tests show that PFAS has been found at the top of Mt Everest and in Polar Bears in the Artic.
HOW DO THEY EFFECT US?
The known side effects of forever chemicals are growing yearly.

Low infant birth weight
Immune System Compromise
Cancer
Thyroid Hormone Disruption
High Cholesterol
Obesity
Decreased Fertility
Hormone Suppression
Neurological Delays
Animals
Immune System Compromise
Hematological Issues
Mortality
Liver Toxicity
Tumors

CURRENT SOLUTIONS
The EPA is working hard to solve the problems of forever chemicals, and eliminate the sources.
Although the EPA has not yet set PFAS standards for sludge and wastewater, the agency has long been aware of the problem. Problems have been reported for decades, with PFOA and PFOS in the water, and in fields, spread on grazing lands. Many tests have confirmed that these chemicals are contaminating animals and humans in rural areas.
